Editorial . . . by Trevor Ellis, editor
I was sorry not to make Cardmeet again, due to being on holiday in France. Unfortunately, due to always taking holiday in June, I have only ever made one Cardmeet since becoming a member. However, if the material I have received is anything to go by, it was a great success.
Although I had allowed for the holiday, I had no allowance for any additional problems on my return and I must apologise for the late appearance of the July issue. The delay was not entirely a waste, as it did give time for Ray Hahn to send his impressions of Cardmeet, which were thus much more current. A more formal report appears in this issue, along with a letter of thanks from two non-members who attended.
This issue, being larger than usual, with a longer article, reflects one of the decisions taken at the AGM. The cost will inevitably be somewhat greater, mainly due to the extra illustrations rather than the extra pages. I just hope that the extra printing time does not cause another delay, as I will be away for part of September.
Another interesting possibility that has crossed my mind is to do a colour edition, that that would at least double the printing element of the cost, due to the high cost of colour cartridges for printers and the fact that they do not last as long; perhaps a careful arrangement of the pages might make it possible, or we could look at having a colour cover for one issue?
Still on Cardmeet, Alan Robinson will organise Cardmeet 2001, on the Calder & Hubble and Leeds and Liverpool Canals. An appeal for organisers of the 2002 Cardmeet was made. Suggested venues were the Monmouth & Brecon Canal or any of the canals around Birmingham. No-one volunteered at the AGM, so this is an appeal for someone to come forward
I mentioned Ray Hahn earlier. Ray is developing a Card Card Collectors Circle website. This is located at "www.gongoozler.org" and though incomplete, already gives people worldwide access to the last two issues of "Gongoozler" and some basic information about us. I hope to have a last minute contribution from Ray in this issue. If anyone has a view on what the world might want or need to know about the CCCC, please let me know and I will e-mail it to Ray.
