Mumblings of the Chairman . . .

Dear Members,

At the Cardmeet and Annual General Meeting (AGM) at York this year the Circle honoured two of its members for their long service. David Clough, our Membership Secretary and Treasurer was presented with a certificated making him a Life Member of the Circle. David was one of the founder members of the Circle and has served, no only as it's secretary for many years, but also as the Chairman during the years 1985-1987.

Alan Robinson - the man who first thought of the Circle - is now our first President, and he, too, was given a framed certificated in appreciation of all the work he has done over the past twenty-one years.

Elsewhere in this issue you can read about the Cardmeet at York, but I would like to add a further post-script to the week-end. I have been back to the Wold View House Hotel since our gathering ther in June - the weather was good to me this time - and while having a drink at the bar one evening, I was talking to our hosts, Shiela and Steve, about the Circle's visit. They told me that after we had left they set our to fine the places we had visited on our tour of York's waterways.

I do believe we could have a couple of converts here; I'll let you know, 'cos I am going back to York next year for a longer stay.

It's that Ken Parris again!
