Editorial . . . by Avril Lansdell, editor

First, yet another apology. Last issue should have been numbered Volume 22, No. 2, April 1999. It is my fault that it is wrong - I was so pleased with the picture on the cover that I forgot to type in the issue number on the top. Alan spotted this and put it in but because it was the 'Birthday' issue he thought it was the first of the new Volume 22. and put in 1 instead of 2. I believe Phil Griffiths altered many of the copies before they were dispatched but if your copy says Volume 22, no 1 April 1999, please alter it to no. 2. April 1999.

The editorial is always the last part of the newsletter to be typed. This enables me to add in any news that has been sent in late or for which there was no room anywhere else. There are two corrections to telephone numbers given in the last two issues. . . .

Following the interest in the 'Siddal' mystery card, for those of you who would like to know even more about this area, the Calder Navigation Society has published a guide to the Calder and Hebble and Aire and Calder Navigations. It is available in bookshops or by post from Keith Noble, Honorary Secretary to the society, at "The Dene", Triangle, Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire, HX6 3EA. Price £3.40.

Lots of 'New Cards' news in this issue including the Salmon card [below] available from Michal Porter.

Happy reading - - - - ! Avril
