Plea For Help by Richard Thomas

Two new requests for information. Or, at least, one new and one repeat of an old one.

First the repeat. I am now actively researching the history and fate of all the FMC steamer fleet of 32 (or was it more?) craft. Details of any cards or pictures which members have would be most welcome. It matters not whether the craft are still steamers or have been converted to motors. The list of names (with AKA's in brackets) are as follows:

Admiral

Phoenix

Baron {Pearl}

Pirate
Baroness {Briton}
President
Colonel {Mercury}
Prince
Count {Enterprise No. 1}
Princess {Pilot}
Countess {Captain, Colin, Victory}
Queen
Duchess {Ant, Emberbrook}
Speedwell
Duteous {Victory}
Sultan
Earl
Swan
Emperor
The King {Star, Salamander}
Empress {Envoy}
Vanguard
General {General Lee}
Viceroy
Hecla
Victoria
Hecla II
Victory {Pacific, Victory}
Marquis
Vulcan
Monarch

The other request concerns a Mr. Wheatley. In 1904 he took several holidays in East Hertfordshire and Essex and took many photographs. These he had printed in postcard format and later in the year sent them to his daughter Madelaine Wheatley. He annotated each card with a short description. The collection was split up later by a dealer between three and seven years ago. Eight of these cards are now in Dennis Ashby's collection and he would be interested to know whether they were all of waterway subjects or if he [Wheatley] photographed other scenes.

Certainly the cards in Dennis's collection are all of the Lea or Stort.
