Mumblings of the Chairman . . .

While resting after the New Year jollifications I read through the 1998 "Gongoozlers." It was then that I realised what a unique organisation we are. Our members are spread from one end of the country to the other and even overflow into other clubs and circles; we are from very different walks of life and have different pursuits, but are connected by our interest in canals, waterways and postcards. We are all friends (I hope) but a lot of us have never met another member; we have got to know each other through letters to each other or by reading what the other members get up to in the pages of our life-line the 'Gongoozler'.

Now wouldn't it be lovely if we could all meet up one year?

I do realise that a Cardmeet with all of our members, plus spouses, is just about as impossible as one can get, but if any member likes to take up the challenge and think they can bring it about we need a venue for Cardmeet in the year 2001. (Our 'Meet' in the year 2000 will be in Gloucester.) Are there any takers? Has anyone any ideas they would like to put forward? The Circle would like to know of them by the A. G. M. in June this year.

Even if you cannot get to this year's Cardmeet in York, the Chairman would be happy to present your ideas to the members there.

It's that Ken Parris again!
